HEC

HEC

HEC stands for Hydroxyethyl Cellulose. It is another commonly used additive in the paint and coatings industry. HEC is derived from cellulose, a natural polymer found in plant cell walls, similar to CMC.

Paint and Coatings: HEC increases the viscosity of paint and coatings, allowing you more control over flow and leveling qualities. It avoids sagging, leaking, and splattering for a more equal and consistent application.

It has a great capacity to contain water, which helps keep paint from drying out while being stored or applied. Additionally, it functions as a stabilizer to stop pigments and other solid particles in the paint composition from settling. HEC can increase the paint’s adherence to a variety of surfaces, enhancing bonding and longevity.

Personal Care Products: HEC is used in shampoos, conditioners, lotions, and other personal care products as a thickener, stabilizer, and emulsion stabilizer.

Pharmaceutical Industry: HEC is used in pharmaceutical formulations as a binder, disintegrant, and controlled-release agent.

Food Industry: HEC is used as a thickener, stabilizer, and emulsifier in food products such as sauces, dressings, and desserts.

Construction Industry: HEC is used in cement-based products, such as tile adhesives and grouts, as a water retention agent and rheology modifier.

Our grades are simple to disperse and compatible with other constituents in formulations, making them the appropriate solution for you. DMC offers a range of HEC with varying viscosity profiles to cater to various applications.
